Dr Ross Ballantine (Jan 2021-June 2023)
Ross Ballantine grew up in Moira, Co. Down and graduated with a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Queen’s University Belfast in 2017. For his final year project, he studied the mechanochemical synthesis of hybrid nanocages, that had not previously been reported, with important applications in drug delivery and catalysis as part of the James Group. Following graduation, he re-joined the James Group and continued carrying out research on hybrid nanocage synthesis before beginning his post-graduate studies. His current research in the Cochrane Lab focuses on making new analogues of antimicrobial peptides and studying how this affects antimicrobial activity and receptor binding. Outside of the lab, Ross enjoys playing the piano, reading, painting and spending time with his dog Alfie!

Vellinezhi
Village in Kerala, India
Vellinezhi is a small but culturally crucial village located in Palakkad district of Kerala in southern India.[citation needed]
Geography
The sylvan, rugged land is located on the banks of the Kunti, a slender rivulet that forms tributary to the broad, west-flowing Bharatapuzha that criss-crosses central Kerala in southern India. Vellinezhi is located about 25 km north of Ottapalam in Palakkad district.[1] The nearest small town is Cherpulassery, some seven kilometres away.
Art and culture
It is famous for the huge number of Kathakali and traditional Kerala percussion artistes it has churned out over a period of decades and centuries[1]—in a hoary way in its feudal past, and at a relatively slower place in today's liberal-economy world.
