Paul Fix (13 March 1901—14 October 1983) was an American actor of film and television.

Born in Dobbs Ferry, New York, Fix is well known to audiences for his multiple appearances in John Wayne western films, as well as for the role of Marshal Micah Torrance on The Rifleman. To genre audiences, he is also known for his portrayal of Dr. Mark Piper in Star Trek's second pilot episode, "Where No Man Has Gone Before". He later portrayed Commander Kronus in "Take the Celestra," an episode of the Original Series, which would be one of his last appearances on television prior to his death in 1983.

Fix died in Los Angeles, California as a result of kidney failure.

Peter Paul Fix (March 13, 1901 – October 14, 1983) was an American actor. He was well known for Giant, The Rifleman, and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Star Trek fans will also recognize him as Dr. Mark Piper in Star Trek: The Original Series’ second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before.” It was always agreed that the doctor should be somewhat older than the rest of the cast, with the episode’s director believing he should be a credible father figure to the captain. When the show went to series Gene Roddenberry cast DeForest Kelley, his first choice.

Fix served in the National Guard, the US Army, and the US Navy after America’s entry into World War I. Starting as a contract player during The Silent Age of Hollywood, he began getting larger roles after the switch to sound. A close friend of John Wayne, Fix was Wayne’s acting coach and would eventually appear in 27 of Wayne’s films.

Fix was married twice, to Frances Harvey and Beverly Pratt. He had one child with Harvey. He died of kidney failure at the age of 82.

Paul Fix was an American film and television actor who was highly recognizable for his work in a variety of genres, but especially westerns and his best known role playing Marshal Micah Torrance in THE RIFLEMAN.  Fix appeared in more than 100 movies and dozens of television shows during a 56-year career beginning in 1925.   He appeared in numerous silent pictures but garnered his first credited screen role for an appearance in "The First Kiss" (1928), starring Fay Wray and Gary Cooper.

A veteran of World War I, Fix became a busy character actor who got his start in local productions around his New York home, then in California, appearing in Pauline Frederick's traveling theater company.  During this period he became friends with Clark Gable, with whom he appeared in 20 plays.  By the 1920s, after moving to Hollywood, Fix began performing in the first of almost 350 films and television shows.  In the 1930's, he became friends with John Wayne, coaching him acting, and eventually appearing
