Frank Trevor McKnight |
Frank T. McKnight |
Frank Trevor McKnight was born on June 12, 1895 in Jefferson Township, Fayette County, PA, the son of Henry and Martha (Nutt) McKnight.
In 1918, at the age of 23, Frank married his first wife, 20-year-old Florence Barton Stephens (1898-1922).
The McKnights were the parents of two daughters -- Laura "Mae" Ames and Pauline Ruth Wilson.
Frank and Florence are seen here in a photograph, posing with an unknown boy who may have been named "Bruce."
When the federal census was taken in 1920, the McKnights made their home in Jefferson Township, Fayette County, with Frank employed as a store clerk in a wholesale company. Their daughter Mae was eight months old at the time. Living as next door neighbors were Frank's aged parents and married brother James and family.
Tragically, Florence died at age 24 on Dec. 30, 1922, and is buried at Redstone Cemetery. Details of her passing are not yet known.

No Dig
World Map
We have installed a polytunnel in conjunction with New Leaf Compost.
As part of this project, we have established a number of no-dig beds. Our polytunnel also includes no-dig beds and a potting area. Last autumn, we harvested potatoes, marrows, carrots, onions, tomatoes, chard, Broccoli, lettuce, beans, peppers, strawberries.
We also grew a large number of sunflowers, and harvested their seeds. These seeds have been set in our wildflower meadow. Our pupils were involved throughout, working with staff, parents, members of the community and other volunteers.
Planting has already begun for this year’s harvest, and we intend to have a local celebrity chef come to school to do a soup making demonstration in the autumn.
We will also be planting 430 sunflower seeds along the perimeter of the school, again in no dig beds, and this will be featured on our local radio station, BBC Radio Foyle – this will be the second feature they have done on our no-dig project. The project has also featured in our local newspapers.
Our school is in Culmore, Derry, Northe
