Jessica Hynes (néeStevenson) (born October 30, 1972) is a British actress, director and writer. Best known as a comedy actress, she has played Cheryl in The Royle Family (1998-2010), Siobhan Sharpe in Twenty Twelve (2011-2012) and W1A (2014-2017) and Emily Yates in There She Goes (2018-2023). She was also one of the stars, creators and writers of Spaced (1999-2001). She has also had starring roles in television film Tomorrow La Scala! and BBC dramas Years and Years (2019) and Miss Austen (2025). In film, Hynes has appeared in the Bridget Jones (2004-2025), Nativity (2012-2018) and Paddington (2017-2024) film series.

Sara Jessie Stephenson (1873–1966) was a British suffragette and a member of the WSPU who organised census boycott in Manchester.
Early life
Sara Jessie Stephenson was born in Louth, Lincolnshire in 1873[1] the [citation needed] daughter of a farmer in Lincolnshire, England.[2]
Despite her parents' initial reluctance, she wanted more than a domestic life and travelled in France and Germany teaching English.[1]
Suffragette activism
Stephenson joined the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), and donated some of her earnings from teaching to their cause,[1] before returning to work in London for a barrister. She lived in rooms at the Twentieth Century Club at Notting Hill, as did fellow activist Ada Flatman.[2]
Stephenson became actively involved in 1907, cycling around during her holiday with a banner 'Keep the Liberal Out' and 'Votes For Women', annoying a local minister and schoolteacher. This was in support of the WSPU in the Jarrow by-

Biographical Information
Jessica Stephenson received masters and doctorate degrees in African art history from Emory University in 2000 and 2006, with a minor in ancient Egyptian art and ancient American art. She received BA and BA Honors degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa in 1992 and 1993 with a dual major in art history and anthropology. Dr. Stephenson has pursued a two-pronged career as curator and academic. She worked in a number of museums including the Johannesburg Art Gallery, South Africa. In 2003 she was appointed Associate Curator of African and Ancient American Art at the Michael C. Carlos Museum, Emory University, and in 2009 promoted to Curator of African Art. She has taught a wide range of non-western/global art history courses at the University of the Witwatersrand, Atlanta College of Art and Design, Bauder College, Emory Unive
