Dr. Shirley Murray, Bishop Herman Murray and the Full Gospel Holy Temple Churches, Incorporated earlier this week announced the funeral and Homegoing celebration services for Apostle Lobias Murray, the founder and general overseer of the Full Gospel Holy Temple Churches, Inc. He transitioned from vision to victory on Friday, December 23, 2011.

An honorable and upright Man of God, whose character was consistent with his life and message, Apostle Murray preached holiness and he lived holy. He was known for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with immense clarity that even a young child would understand. While ministering, you would often hear him declare – If you Believe It, Say Amen!

The Rev. Lobias Murray built a wide-ranging ministry that he started in a storefront church in a former barbecue cafe on Second Avenue in 1961 with six members who sat on borrowed chairs.

His Full Gospel Holy Temple Church quickly outgrew its original South Dallas home and three subsequent locations before settling in a $20 million complex in the Red Bird area in 2002.

Along the way, Mr. Murray created 35 branch Full Gospel churches across the country, the Helping Hand Outreach, the Lobias Murray Christian Academy in Dallas and the Lobias and Shirley Murray Christian Camp in East Texas.

Mr. Murray, 84, died Dec. 23 in his sleep at his Dallas home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Full Gospel Holy Temple Church in Dallas. He will be buried in Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Apostle Murray (1927-2011) is the Founder of Full Gospel Holy Temple, Inc., 39727 LBJ Freeway (I-20 @ Hampton Rd.), and the now defunct Lobias Murray Christian Academy, a 12-grade fully accredited school, located at 330 Ann Arbor in Dallas, TX.

As a pastor in the City of Dallas for 50 years, he consistently dedicated himself as a Servant of God to the religious, educational, and humanitarian welfare of the Dallas community, and to all mankind.

As a Man of God, he preached an authentic, transforming, and deliverance gospel. Like a balm in Gilead, his message was the antidote for broken lives and wounded spirits. Endowed with a ministry that is evidenced by signs, miracles and wonders, souls are saved, delivered and set free by the power of God in each service. His ministry transcended ethnic barriers and reached people from all walks of life. The hallmark of his ministry was the laying on of hands for the receiving of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
