Eve was the wife of Adam. They were believed to be the common ancestors of the whole of the modern human race.

Biography[]

Their descendants had no concept of humanity's history before Adam and Eve, but according to the Fourth Doctor, Eve and Adam were not actually the first modern man and woman. Instead, they existed in an advanced human civilisation, quite similar to the later human society of the 20th century onwards. Eve was many centuries younger than Adam, who, thanks to a unique serum he had invented, was 930 years old, but physically in early middle age, when Eve met him.

In Eve's era, concerns about overpopulation had led the entire human race to decide to transplant themselves to another, recently-discovered planet with more space and resources. Save for Adam, who refused to leave because the Earth had been his home for so long, Eve was the only human being who decided to stay behind on Earth when the great fleet of rocket-ships eventually departed for good. Eve of the Daleks

2022 Doctor Who episode

"Eve of the Daleks" is the first of three special episodes that followed the thirteenth series of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. The episode was first broadcast on BBC One on 1 January 2022 as Doctor Who's annual holiday special. It was written by Chris Chibnall, and directed by Annetta Laufer. It is the third and final part of a loose trilogy that developed in previous festive specials.

In the episode, the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and her two companions, Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Dan Lewis (John Bishop), get trapped in a time loop on New Year's Eve. Once there, they find Sarah and Nick (guest stars Aisling Bea and Adjani Salmon) and the five are repeatedly chased by a Dalek.

"Eve of the Daleks" was filmed in Bristol in June 2021 and was impacted by COVID-19 in its production process. Described as a bottle episode and a romantic comedy, "Eve of the Daleks" received positive reviews and was viewed by 4.39 million. It was broadcast internationally.

Hungarian mathematician

Éva Tardos (born 1 October 1957) is a Hungarianmathematician and the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of Computer Science at Cornell University.

Tardos's research interest is algorithms. Her work focuses on the design and analysis of efficient methods for combinatorial optimization problems on graphs or networks. She has done some work on network flow algorithms like approximation algorithms for network flows, cut, and clustering problems. Her recent work focuses on algorithmic game theory and simple auctions.^[1]

Education and career

Tardos received her Dipl. Math in 1981 and her Ph.D. 1984 from the Faculty of Sciences of the Eötvös Loránd University under her advisor András Frank.^[2] She was the Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Cornell from 2006-2010, and she is currently serving as the Associate Dean of the College of Computing and Information Science.^[3]
