Jet Li was born Li Lianjie on April 26, 1963, in Beijing, China. He is the youngest of five children and has experienced severe challenges from a young age. His father died when he was barely two years old, leaving his mother to raise the family alone. Despite these obstacles, Li’s talent for martial arts blossomed early, and he began training in wushu (a Chinese martial art) at eight.
Li rapidly rose to fame in the martial arts world, earning his first national title at eleven. Jet Li’s remarkable talents piqued the interest of film filmmakers, and at 19, he made his cinematic debut in “Shaolin Temple” (1982). The film was a huge hit, propelling him to prominence in China and later to international acclaim.
