Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr is a professional boxer and boxing promoter. Mayweather was born on February 24, 1977, to Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Deborah Sinclair in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mayweather comes from a family of boxers, including his father and uncles, Roger Mayweather and Jeff Mayweather. Mayweather’s maternal grandfather was born in Kingston, Jamaica.

Growing up, Mayweather lived in the Hiram Square neighborhood of New Brunswick, New Jersey, with his mother’s relatives. He recalled coming from school seeing heron needles on the front lawn. His mother became addicted to drugs and his aunt died from AIDS because of drugs. Mayweather returned to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he attended Ottawa Hills High School but dropped out.

After high school, Mayweather began his amateur boxing career and by 1992 he had a record of 84 wins and 8 losses. He won the national Golden Gloves championships in 1993 and 1996. Mayweather participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics Games in Atlanta, Georgia. He won the Bronze medal after losing to Bulgarian boxer Serafim Simeonov Todorov

He is the son of a boxer, Floyd Mayweather Sr. who introduced him to boxing. His youth was hard because he and his family had drug issues, but later, he left drugs and continued with boxing. He was trained by his uncle Roger Mayweather, who was also a boxer.

Mayweather has won fifteen world titles and the lineal championship in four different weight classes. He won a bronze medal in the featherweight division at the 1996 Olympics.[2] He won three U.S. Golden Gloves titles[3] (at light flyweight, flyweight, and featherweight). He also won the U.S. national title[4] at featherweight.

Mayweather was well known for his speed, stamina, defense, and his excellent boxing schema. In 2017, he made a comeback to the ring and defeated MMA fighter Conor McGregor.
